I am currently photographing, painting and assembling materials found on the East Durham coast. I hope that the objects I create from these materials reveal their life and history beyond the obvious, and that my audience will be reminded of the decay from which the pieces are born.

There is a paradoxical beauty in decay which transcends corruption.The relentless processes of oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis, decomposition and transformation all return matter to its basic composition.

In nature, 'matter cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another.'
